Rockmybaby® is licensed in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu-Wanganui and Wellington to operate home-based care networks using professional educators to provide childcare in their own homes.
Early Childcare Education (ECE) is funded in New Zealand by the Ministry of Education and eligible families can access government subsidies and other funding to assist with the cost:
Every home-based childcare programme is designed to cater to your child’s unique needs.
Your chosen educator can either be a nanny working in your home or your child may be in the care of an educator who works in their own home. Either option allows your child to have an early childhood care and educational experience in a small group setting of up to four children.
Our qualified visiting teachers support your child and the educator with monthly visits to the home where care takes place. These visits provide guidance and offer ideas to best further your child’s educational programme. Visit reports on your child's learning and development are also send out monthly.
Outings, events or professional development are on offer for your child and educator to support learning extension. Rockmybaby® offers administration support with enrolments, accessing subsidies and changes to hours.
The key to optimal outcomes is that your child and educator have a relationship-based approach to learning. Through this early childhood learning model, educators become ‘significant others’ in the lives of the children they care for.
Smaller group settings at home allow for time; time to explore, time to talk and share, time to meet the physical needs of your child, time to laugh, time to build trust, time to learn at the child’s own pace without boundaries.
Our educators foster a secure attachment with your child, which is crucial for optimal learning and brain development. Children learn through their trusted adult whether that is a parent or educator. Children instinctively want to learn and as parents and educators, we can see how their development and learning takes place.
Rockmybaby® Homebased Childcare also supports socialisation with peers and other small groups of children in our network. Our support team fosters and develops an educator’s skill of communicating, connecting and collaborating with your child's unique learning patterns.
With up to four pre-schoolers enrolled at any one time, homebased educators work from their own home. Within this ratio there are never more than two children under the age of 2 years.
Homebased educators are self-employed contractors and pay their own tax. This means that you pay an hourly rate per enrolled childcare hour. This rate can vary between $6 and $15 per hour depending on factors including location or experience of the educator (they may be a qualified teacher). In many situations, families won’t pay this full amount due to accessing government subsidies.
While homebased educators offer in-home childcare programmes for your child, some can also offer kindergarten runs or drop-off and pick-up services to and from your home.
Whether your needs are determined by location, availability, programme facilities or finance, we believe in the importance of working closely with you and our educators to find the right fit for your family.
Nannies work in your home and often two families share a nanny across two family homes. Nannies are usually employed by the family, or in some cases the nanny may be working as an independent contractor, using a different tax code.
As an employer, you will need to meet the minimum wage of $18.90 per hour, with market rates varying between $18.90 and $30/$35 per hour.
We can provide you with your region’s market rate to support you in the employment negotiation process. Furthermore, we are able to provide guidance to see whether you are eligible for government subsidies that will contribute towards the cost of your nanny.
At Rockmybaby® our ECE trained visiting teachers support educators to access a calendar of events in the community that are suitable for your child. At home, the educator will organise activities and a learning programme.
We also organise regular outings, events and professional development for home-based educators.
