Homebased rates & subsidies

With our licenced pre-school homebased care networks operating in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu, Waikato, Wellington, Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay, you are able to access government subsidies towards the cost of care with your chosen educator. (Visit our homebased section for more details).

  • Homebased educators can charge between $6-$10 per hour
  • Homebased nanny educator – $18.00 - $30 per hour

Rates are negotiated between you and your nanny employee. Pricing is a guide only, as access to government subsidies can dramatically reduce the family payment.

Subsidies for families through our homebased service

Families registering with Rockmybaby® with the homebased network can access a variety of subsidies towards the cost of childcare. Different types of subsidies are:

  • Work and Income Childcare subsidies
  • 20 Hours ECE for 3, 4 and 5 year olds (not enrolled at school)
  • Other subsidies: CYFS, Mulitbirth, Domestic Emergency, Ministry of Health, Early Learning payment (ELP) and ACC Forms families need to complete via Work and Income
  • Home Help Payments

Rockmybaby® is a Work and Income approved service provider. Families must be enrolled with our homebased service to access this subsidy. This childcare subsidy is available to children from 0-5 years of age. Families will need to contact Work & Income to apply for the Work & Income childcare subsidy and broaden their knowledge of Work & Income subsidies.

20 Hours ECE

20 Hours ECE is available for children aged 3 to 5 year olds (and 6 year olds not enrolled at school). Families can use this subsidy across several providers and the allocated hours must be recorded on the enrolment form and signed by a parent/guardian prior to care starting or any changes to current enrolments. This is stipulated on the Ministry of Education website.

Important notes:

  • 20 Hours ECE can be used across several providers, however there is a maximum of 6 hours utilisation in any one day
  • There is only ever 20 ECE hours available across a calendar week available
  • Families cannot use both Work & Income subsidies and ECE hours for the same enrolled hours
  • Families must understand the importance of not having duel enrolments across providers .

Multiple Birth Subsidies
This subsidy is not income tested and is eligible for parents with multiple births (twins or triplets) with an older pre-school child. The subsidy is administered via Work & Income.

Key information for parents:

  • Current rate is $20.13 per hour including 8% holiday pay - if paid directly to the nanny.
  • The multiple birth subsidy is only granted to families that have an older child under 5 years old at the time of the twins’ birth.
  • If the twins are the family's first born, then the family is not eligible.
  • Twins – Work & Income will subsidise 240 hours of care.
  • Triplets – Work & Income will subsidise 1,560 hours of care (granted regardless if there are other siblings or not)
  • The subsidy expires a year to the date after the twins were discharged from hospital (2 year expiry for triplets)
  • Important: Work & Income will not pay any additional funds to ACC contribution or KiwiSaver.

A Rockmybaby® consultant will discuss this with you when you are enquiring or enrolling. The family can organise in advance a Work & Income subsidy by sending in hospital discharge papers.  You will then receive a letter from Work & Income confirming the hours of care and the hourly rate.
